SHE. SAID. DADA!!!!!!!!!!

I have been waiting forever to be able to post this entry.  Today started off like any other day.  I went in to get Sadie up and ready for the day. She was sitting up in her crib with the biggest grin on her face (probably because she knew she was going to knock my socks off).  I laid her on the changing table to change her diaper and get her dressed and all of a sudden she said "Dadadadadada."  At first I was sure I didn't hear her correctly.  She has never even said a "D" let alone "Dada."  So I tried prompting her by saying "DaDaDA."  She just laughed at me.  So I continued on with dressing her, sure I head her wrong,  I put in her hearing aids and she did it AGAIN!  "Dadadadada."  This time I KNEW I heard her right.  I was so ecstatic.  Not just the fact that she said "dada", but that she is stringing consonants and vowels together is HUGE!  I don't even care that she is saying "dada" instead of "mama" :)  And to take it one step farther, she said it in the car all the way to her grandparents house (40 min drive).  I almost broke into tears.  I know for most folks this isn't that big of a deal...but it is huge for our family.  GO SADIE!!!!!!!!!

Fun in the Sun!

The past few weekends we have really enjoyed the fantastic weather.  We have taken Sadie to Smithville Lake as well as to my brother's pool.  She really enjoys being outside.  Here are a few pictures documenting her adventures.

PS-And for anyone that is curious, we DO take her hearing aids out when she is in the water.  We try and keep them in right until she gets in the water and the put them right back in when she gets out of the water.

A Few More Adjustments

Well our 3 months until the next audiologist visit lasted a whole week :)  I was still concerned that Sadie wasn't hearing her "sss" sounds, so I decided to take her back into the audiologist for some additional adjustments to her hearing aids.  They put Sadie in the soundbooth again (#5), but this time she was wearing her hearing aids.  They determined that she was hearing low frequency sounds at 15db and high frequency sounds ("ssss") at 30db.  While 30 db isn't bad, her hearing aids allow her to do better.  So we adjusted them again and I felt very comfortable that Sadie was hearing her "sss" when we left.

Sadie has also started to figure out that there is something in her ears and she knows she isn't supposed to touch them.  So what does she do?  TOUCH THEM!  She has started to pull her hearing aids out.  I was REALLY hoping that we might get a pass on this and she would just leave them alone.  But apparently I am not that lucky.  Sadie is a very inquisitive baby, so it isn't surprising that she wants to know what is in her ears, how it works, etc.  Oh, and not to mention she is starting to test her limits!  Troy and I are going to have our hands full here very soon (as if we didn't already! :))
